Very little is known about the underwater kingdoms of the Sea Devils, though they frequently raid coastlands and shipping along the Blood Sea. From time to time, a group of adventurers will venture beneath the waves to seek information or perhaps make contact with the sahuagin. Some of these land dwellers even return. The Great Houses of the Southern Empire have been known to seek to forge treaties with the sahuagin, but the underwater race is notoriously uncooperative and tends to adhere to racist views about the inferiority of land dwellers.
The Blood Sea is not actually named such because of the sahuagin, though more people have been slain in its waters than on any other sea. Rather, it is named for the rich red algae which grows in its warm waters during the summer months.
Many sea going vessels travel the Merchant's sea, but very few if any dared to venture too far away from land. In the past, a ruthless and daring merchant or an unlucky survivor of a shipwreck would bring back hazy stories of a continent called Veldreth, also known as the Far Lands, and the Mist Continent.
To the east of the tropical Merchant's Sea can be found the Far Lands, the second major continent of Eldreth. This land was veiled for many years by strange mists and terrible storms, such that the people of Landreth have had very little contact with the Far Lands, though brave traders of the Southern Empire would occasionally undertake and survive a trip to Veldreth and return with terrible tales of the bizarre, warped inhabitants of that region.
In 1372 DR, the Mistwall which kept Veldreth isolated fell.
While Landreth and Veldreth are still separated by many years and many
miles, it is now possible to sail from one continent to the other with
some reliability. Whether contact will increase, however, remains to
be seen.
