The Knights originally contacted a tribal captain known as Malagar for assistance. Malagar presumably died in the destruction of his city. Since then, a liaison has been appointed to serve as a contact with the Knights. His name is Noraine. He is a chaotic neutral and extremely suspicious man, always wary of the Knight's hidden motives. His bodyguard leans toward the cause of good, but speaks very rarely. He goes by the name of Arugath. The Knights have a second contact in Koffuspace, the bionoid Yhaniss il-Ghandru.
Since the destruction of Illindrae, the Knights have worked to deepen their contacts with the Koffu tribes, offering gifts of spells and information. Moreover, they have arranged for some trade with the Koffu, exchanging lightning arrows and other magics for rare materials and fungi that can only be found in Koffuspace. The Knights have also brought Noraine to Dragon's Rock and Waterdeep, so that he might examine the markets and learn what the Koffu could profitably buy and sell.
Although the Knights have been delivering periodic shipments of lightning arrows to the Koffu in exchange for spices and other easily transported goods, these shipments have been ad hoc and small scale. The Knights are currently working with Noraine to develop a system of trade which would allow the Koffu to maintain stable exports while not leaving them vulnerable to Vodoni attack. Finally, they are also attempting to secure contacts with tribal leaders in the other spheres, again offering gifts of spells and information. While Noraine has assisted in this, he has insured that the Knights have only a single contact in each hollow-world (An elderly priestess named Umrae in Pro Belbol, and a very quiet tribal chieftain named Chazmyr in Ustus). The Knights hope that such contacts will enable them to learn of any Vodoni actions beyond the Koffu's ability to deal with, so that they can interfere directly.
Following the catastrophe at Illindrae, Quinn, Hyalgar, Izhar, and Yhannis il-Ghandru conducted a mission to the region surrounding the new-formed lake, to instruct the Koffu in the arts of warfare, drawing upon a pair of great texts:
"Military Organization and the Uses of Magic." Written by Vangerdahast.
"The Art of Magical Warfare." Written by a nameless samurai of Shou Lung, adapted over the years, and compiled by a monk called Koja who served in the courts of the Kha Khan and of King Azoun.
The full story of their journey is told in Quinn's diary. Izhar and Yhaniss il-Ghandru have returned to Koffuspace to attempt to contact the Black Knights and assist them, as well as help them work with the other resistance organizations. Izhar has an ulterior motive - preaching the faith of Selune to the shapechangers, though even Taylor does not think her likely to succeed.
Following the Knight's agreement to trade the Dreamseed
to the Norns in exchange for the identities of the Fated Ones in
Koffuspace, Serathin has intervened directly in the lives of these 45
individuals. His intervention, and the identities of the Fated Ones,
are detailed elsewhere. He has, thus far, inducted three of the Fated
Ones into the ranks of the Vigilar. These are detailed under the Vigilar
section. With their aid, and the aid of other Fated Ones, he is beginning
to build a sphere-wide smuggling operation to help fund the resistance
activities of the Koffu and funnel resources and opportunities toward
the Fated Ones themselves.
